Another Special Reason - birthday card

Today I'm sharing another card using the Special Reason - Stylish Stems stamp and die bundle and leftover scraps I had on my desk after making this Just Add Ink challenge card I shared on Friday. Life is pretty busy at colour me happy hq right now so using the same supplies definitely saved time & energy. Something I need to remember more :)

For this one I used the smaller flower outline & detail dies in the Stylish Stems die set. Oh how I love these flowers.

I think the ombre look makes the patterned paper even lovelier. Like my other card, I applied ink to the paper using a sponge brayer with pool party & (retired) coastal cabana ink pads. If you don't have coastal cabana, try a light touch with bermuda bay.

The middle flowers are only attached at the flower centre to give more dimension & are popped up on dimensionals.

The birthday sentiment is from the Special Reason stamp set. I think this plays nicely with the patterned paper too.

Happily I had a leftover scrap of paper to use on the inside, which I teamed with another flower. I didn't add a sentiment as I wanted to write my own note.

Thanks very much for visiting today. If you liked this card, check out my other Special Reason card too & remember to pin it for later inspiration. If you'd like to make your own, the supplies I used are all listed below & can be ordered from my store. Let me know if you need help or any other info too.

Inky wishes, Di

JAI 344 inspiration challenge - Special Reason

It's inspiration challenge week at Just Add Ink & the lovely Kim has given us this fresh summery image to work with.

I choose both the layout & colours as my inspiration to make this floral card.

The gorgeous flower & leaf is from the new & very clever Special Reason - Stylish Stems stamp & die bundle.

I've used the 2 largest flower dies & the 2 large leaf dies here. It may be hard to see in the pic but I've only attached the white flower back & navy stems together at the flower centre to add some extra interest & movement. I also added some clear Wink of Stella to the white layer too.

The ombre look on the navy & white Floral Boutique dsp was really easy to do using just a sponge brayer & pool party ink pad. Simply ink up the brayer & start just off the edge of the paper where you want the deepest shade of ink, then keep rolling across & down the paper, reinking the brayer until you get the depth of colour you want.

I kept the inside simple with sentiments from Special Reason & another die cut flower.

What do you think? Can you see the inspiration pic in my card? Hope so (smile).

Thanks for visiting today. Remember to pin the project for later inspiration & if you'd like to recreate it, all supplies are listed & orderable below. Now head to the Just Add Ink blog to check out the a-maz-ing creations the rest of the team have made & play along with your own project.

Inky wishes, Di

JAI 343 blog hop - succulent pop up slider

http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/01/just-add-ink-343blog-hop.html

We're launching our first Just Add Ink challenge for 2017 today with a fun blog hop. You may have arrived here from fabulous Chloe Evans' blog or some other way. However you did, welcome! :)

This week's challenge is to add a pop-up or interactive element, so I made this pop-up slider card using the new Oh So Succulent stamp & dies bundle.

Easel post-it calendars - Up & Away

It's all go in the Barnes household due to some much needed garden renovating happening while my darling man is on leave. Sadly this means no stamping for me this week... & my latest order has just arrived too :(

However, I want to share this project with you - an easel post-it calendar I made for my lovely Diamond Stampers team members.

My friend & Just Add Ink teamie, Patrice made me a lovely easel calendar last year which I loved, so I thought it would be a fun gift to make.  I added a post-it-note (sticky note) pad to the bottom of mine, as who doesn't love a  post-it? They're certainly one of my stationery geek obsessions.

Of course I HAD to play with some new goodies from the Occasions Catalogue, so I used the large intricate balloon & backing dies from the new Up & Away die set (part of the Lift Me Up stamp & die bundle) with the coordinating Carried Away paper pack. Carried Away is a Sale-a-bration exclusive you can get FREE with each $90 purchase until 31 March, it's not available for regular purchase.

Here's a closer look at the front.

Choosing my colour palette was easy - I used the colours in the Carried Away paper, which are watermelon wonder (base & balloon), night of navy (balloon & sentiments), peekaboo peach (calendar mat & balloon) & mint macaron (balloon).

I stamped the 'live, laugh, love' sentiment (Layering Love stamp set) directly onto the patterned paper in night of navy.

Do you love the love the intricate pattern of the balloon? It gives me happy memories of a hot air balloon I saw in Paris long ago.  You may think it took ages to make the multi-coloured balloon? No! Thanks to SU cleverness, there are 6 dies that each cut a coordinating section, as you can see below.
I used card scraps to cut mine & cut a whole balloon in one pass of the Big Shot. Win!

Back to the calendar, here's a better view of the easel stand.

On the back I stamped an awesome brand new sentiment from the Balloon Adventures stamp set (also available as part of the Balloon Adventures bundle). This set includes a great choice of large birthday sentiments that I will use lots for the inside of my cards

Finally, if you need to post a calendar, it folds flat & fits a regular card envelope.

If you'd like instructions to make this easel calender, leave me a comment & I'll prepare a tutorial if there's enough interest. In the meantime, you can see more of my easel cards here.

Want to see more about the Lift Me Up - Up & Away bundle?
Check out this vid from Stampin' Up! At 30 secs in, you'll see how you can make multicoloured balloons like I did here.

So that's all from me for now. Remember to leave a comment if you'd like me to make a calendar tutorial & pin a pic for later inspiration too. Thanks for visiting today. Hope to share with you again soon.

Inky wishes, Di
